Wowza. Again, feeling rejuvenated. Once again, Kit and I have returned from Ars Nova feeling super high and super special. We got to meet the whole ANT festival clan (class of 2009 baby!!) and couldn’t be more excited to be part of such a great group (shout out to the Fagettes!).. The crew at the Novs are put together, supportive, and passionate (thanks for the free breakfast!) and their mission has real weight- put out new work from new talent that wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to get it out there otherwise. Valiant as fuck. Which for a festival such as this one (a cure for the common festival!) has put a bunch of awkward, probably brilliant screwballs in a room and said- here’s a free theater, free marketing, and free technical support- go play!! It was like what would happen if they were giving away a shopping spree at the Apple Store to the person who could prove they were the nerdiest. Felt like home.
Funny side note: pretty sure everyone thought Kit and I were a lesbian couple. Could’ve been the fact that I introduced her as my partner. Could’ve also been the fact that I brought her a bagel and juice because she was sick. Could’ve ALSO been the fact that i was sitting all bad ass with my hand on the back of her chair the whole time. And, o yeah, we wrote a play about CATS. Ha ha ha. It’s gonna pretty hilarious when I attempt to hit on one of my fellow ANT festers.
Holla.
