Kit and I have been rolling along- just posted the NYtheatre.com podcast that was a preview for the Ars Nova ANT Fest.. I’m sitting in Sunset Park, we finished the lighting plot, send a few dozen emails, edited (mostly) our film footage, and did our final script revisions. All in a 6 hours work. This has been, without a doubt, one of the best learning experiences of my short life. Also, exciting as fuck. Harmony Ingrahm has graciously plotted out our costumes changes (as Kit mentioned below, holy naked Batman) and Kel Haney has been director/collborator extraordinaire. Kel is one talented lady and we are super blessed to have that chick on board. Super. Couldn’t have done it without her.
All that being said, I’m mortified and scared shitless to open next week and I have no idea how it’s all gonna go down, but hey, is there any other way to live? Don’t miss this peeps, it’s gonna be a doozy. Now, off to attempt to sleep, work for 9 hours tomorrow and then finish up our filmed stuff tomorrow. Hoo-rah.
So last night Jenny G and I sat in my apartment and glue-gunned the crap out of our costumes. Today sequin remnants are thoroughly wedged in the crevices of my hard wood floor. Little bits of clear glue webbing linger on the corners of tables. I have a blonde wig resting on an overturned 2 liter Seltzer bottle. It’s staring at me from its post in my bedroom.
What can I say? In truth I don’t think I have ever worked as hard on a production before in my life. And Jenny and I still need to send out the (fingers crossed) final re-writes out to Director Kel, choose all the footage for the film segments, start and finish the lighting plot…it seems daunting when I write about it but when we actually start it’s never as bad as I think it’s going to be.
Huge accomplishment last night with the costumes. That and Jenny and I encountered and got through a mini-breakdown over the reality of our costumes. We’re pretty exposed. Not like stripper exposed but cheesy burlesque exposed. But we dealt. It’s all for the sake of comedy.
Until tonight.

After a rigorous workshop with our director (11-5…what was I thinking?) all three of us headed over to the nytheatre.com podcast event. It was my first podcast (as well as a first for Jenny & Kel I think) and it went really well. We got a chance to meet some of the other artists performing at the ANT Festival and bookend our day (bookend, new phrase introduced to moi by Kel) with an extracurricular event.
As soon as the podcast is up I’m posting that everywhere.
